Certification framework: requirements

 
 
 

The technical characteristics that form the basis of the NF Contreplaqué EXTERIEUR CTB-X certification stem from standard NF EN 636-3 :

  • Dimensional tolerances
  • Glue bond quality
  • Mechanical characteristics (elastic modulus and flexural strength) according to intended use :
    • Structural use
    • Non-structural use
  • In addition to these characteristics, NF Contreplaqué EXTERIEUR CTB-X certification includes an environmental quality requirement :
    • Restriction of formaldehyde emissions: an E1 rating is required

Two further characteristics are also verified :

  • The quality of the veneer used
  • Biological durability

Cladding (« NF Contreplaqué EXTERIEUR CTB-X Bardage » mark) must meet the technical requirements of the NF Contreplaqué EXTERIEUR CTB-X mark, together with the following additional requirements :

  • Minimum number of plies: 5
  • Quality of the face veneer (appearance class, durability and thickness)
  • Thickness of the core veneers
  • Supervision of production control tests
  • Execution of coating resistance tests in the case of painted cladding
  • Installation instructions provided by the manufacturer

Marine plywood (« NF Contreplaqué EXTERIEUR CTB-X Marine » mark), also meets the technical requirements of the NF Contreplaqué EXTERIEUR CTB-X mark, together with the following additional requirements :

  • Minimum number of plies: 3 (if the plywood is less than 6.5 mm thick) or 5 (if the plywood is more than 6.5 mm thick)
  • Ply thickness 1 to 1.3 mm for face veneers and 1 to 3.1 mm for core veneers
  • Durability class
  • Appearance class 2
